Restaurant and wine cellar rooms
Scrigno del Duomo was founded in 1999 following an important renovation of the previous “Casa Balduini”.
Located in one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, Scrigno del Duomo is a two-level building. At the ground floor, facing the enchanting Piazza Duomo, you find the “Bistrot / Wine Bar”. Downstairs you find the Restaurant, on the level where the original and ancient square was located.
An outdoor area welcomes the guests. Here, in spring and summer, our guests enjoy their dinner sitting at a table with a magnificent view of the Neptune fountain in the middle of Trento’s Piazza del Duomo.
The renovation project was curated by the architect Chiara Maria Amalia Bertoli. The leading values of the project were restoration and integration, tradition and innovation in the search for a precise expressive and formal identity. Among the most characteristic elements you may find the Roman walls, the structure of a well and the Senese graffiti that once restored gave light to the large vaulted room. Also the of the restaurant “Scrigno del Duomo” follows this attempt to respect the ancient history of the location while integrating it with elements of contemporaneity.
The still lifes of Albino Rossi, the lives of Luciano Zanoni, the drawn stoneware of Alessio Tasca, the photos of Flavio Faganello, or even the abstract work of Luigi Senesi and the drawings by Othmar Winkler silently vibrate in harmony with the location. Mondrian prints adorn the current “golf room” (lodola). All these important works contribute to making this place unique.
